Jardin Majorelle, 2023 Oil, acrylic and pastel on canvas 48 x 48” commission This is based on a beautiful garden I visited in Marrakesh. Most of the cacti and one palm are Mexican but I included a date palm - the cornerstone of civilization in the Middle East and North Africa, a Cardón Grande from Argentina, and Bougainvillea, native to South America. This garden was bought and rehabbed by Yves Saint Laurent, including a Cubist villa painted the rich blue of Frida Kahlo’s house or the signature color of artist Yves Klein. Sold to a dear friend with an amazing art collection from around the world.
